3 days desert tour from fes to merzouga

Day 1: from Fes city – via – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – to Merzouga desert sahara (Camel Trek)
our journey will begins with a pickup you from your Fes hotel or riad . We will travel south, ascending into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, a charming town known for its unique alpine style architecture, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

We continue to the Cedar Forests of Azrou, a protected habitat where you can watch and photograph the playful Barbary macaques in their natural environment. Descending through breathtaking mountain passes and past traditional Berber villages, we stop for lunch in Midelt.

In the afternoon, the landscape transforms as we drive alongside the stunning Ziz Valley Gorge, a massive palmery oasis that cuts through the desert. We arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga by late afternoon. Here, your camel caravan awaits for a peaceful hour-long trek into the dunes to witness a spectacular sunset.

You’ll arrive at your luxury desert camp where a warm welcome, a traditional Moroccan dinner, and the enchanting sounds of Berber music under a star filled sky await. Overnight in a private, well appointed tent.

Day 2: Merzouga 4×4 Exploration – Nomads – Khamlia – Desert Hotel
Wake early to a magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp,  you will sart your day of discovery begins. We embark on a full-day 4×4 adventure to explore the hidden corners of the Merzouga region. We will Visit a nomadic families for a fresh glass of tea, gaining a rare insight into their traditional way of life.

Journey to the village of Khamlia to experience the spiritual and rhythmic Gnawa music performance. Explore desert sights including the old fossil mines and a secluded desert oasis.Stop for a delicious lunch at a local village, trying the specialty Berber pizza (Madfouna).

After an exhilarating day, we will transfer you to your charming desert hotel or riad, featuring a refreshing swimming pool to relax and unwind. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Atlas Mountains – Fes
After breakfast, we will begin our return journey adventure to Fes city . We first stop at the historic town of Rissani , the founding place of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. Explore its vibrant old traditional souk (market), famous for its spices, crafts, and livestock auctions.

We continue through Erfoud, known for its date festival and fossil marble workshops. We then retrace our scenic route through the Ziz Valley and back over the Middle Atlas Mountains, with opportunities for final photo stops. We will have lunch in Midelt and may spot the Barbary macaques in the cedar forest once more. You will be dropped off at your Fes accommodation in the early evening.
